Healthful

Updated: Dec 14, 2018

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. – Luke 10:27

This year is going to be about embracing who we are; who God created us to be. Just like Christianity, living a healthful lifestyle is not about what you can’t do and following a never-ending list of strict rules. Notice we use "healthful," not "healthy." We want a full life. One that we can look back on with amazement and gratitude. Guidelines are set to keep us on track to a better lifestyle through the one God who loves us, and in our physical case they are set for us to live a healthful lifestyle all around – heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Being a Christian simply means loving God and loving people. You yourself are one of those people. So we are going to love God by getting our all around health in check so that He can use us in some pretty amazing ways. It’s hard to serve God and others if we aren’t taking care of ourselves too.

Which brings me to the second part of being a Christian...

1) We love God.

2) We love people.

This blog is not about comparing ourselves to one another and trying to fit into someone else’s mold. It may look appealing on the outside, but we don’t know what that person went through to get where they are. In the meantime, we would be missing what God has planned for us. Someone else might look at us and say, “man, I wish I had that.” We can't sell ourselves or God’s pan short.

Now, that doesn’t mean we can’t ask for or offer advice from our experiences. I am a firm believer that God turns our experiences around to help others. Romans 8:28 says, “He works all things for our good.” The good, the bad, and the ugly. So as you get to know those in your fitness groups and as you get to know me, please reach out. You could really be a blessing to each other and myself. So let’s jump in and love God and love each other this year!
